I received a letter. Yes, a letter. A hand written letter. It arrived by post. The name is on the letter for you to see.
A letter...revives so many memories. Of the time when it was the only form of communication between friends during summer vacations...later, a way to express hidden feelings for that special someone...a query from a parent, sibling, a message from someone you'd met on a train...
I am reading and re reading this letter. Because I want to, in many ways, hold on to the childhood memories through this letter. And what is serendipitous is that, this comes so close to my forthcoming book that is based on the many letters I have received growing up (I have nearly all of them stacked neatly).
And because I appreciate the time Prof Aloke has dedicated to craft this letter. Because I appreciate how beautiful written words are.
All I can say is Thank You. I will forever cherish this.
The social media crime club
…Meanwhile, I have joined a few Facebook groups - namely Hercule Poirot Fans Group, Agatha Christie Fans, Midsomer Murder Fans and such like. Yes, primarily all related to crime.
Leads me to wonder what is it that makes reading about crime fiction so appealing? Surely, if a crime really happened in our midst, would we be so eager to go and solve it? But I suppose the whole point is about seeking truth - when it is so direct as in crime fiction, the story is easier to consume. But who is to tell.
This lead me to another interesting question - would I be able to write about crime considering that I read so much about it? Including the not-so-neatly-tied-up crime I read about in books?
I think not.
But while I allow that truth to sink in, I am going to enjoy watching the numerous crime fiction on Netflix, AmazonPrime and even social media!
On that note, I also have an announcement to make. It’s about my forthcoming book, Plentiful Springs.
But more on that later…

What are you reading this week?
The literary scene is hotting up. So much to read and so little time. What are you reading this week?
I am yet to sit down and finish a Jeffrey archer book (yes yes, I am a huge fan) and do some spring cleaning of the book shelves, but I did find a few interesting books I have earmarked for reading.
A Day in the Life of Abed Salama by Nathan Thrall
Emergency by Catherine Alcott
The Caretaker by Ron Rash
So wonderful to receive a letter
Anjaly has a beautiful way of expressing her gratitude and joy for the letter she received from her friend. The insights on how to cope with the challenges of living abroad and finding meaning in everyday moments were great!.This is a great example of how real-writing can connect us with ourselves and others...
